Key responsibilities & impact

Design and develop data architecture for new and existing applications and data sources
Establish Data Quality, Data Governance, and Master Data Management best practices
Design robust and scalable ETL frameworks and data pipelines
Incorporate new pipelines into existing data models
Manage and maintain production systems
Collaborate with internal cross-functional departments to design, develop, and implement data pipelines
Improve team productivity through better tools and processes
Follow documentation, coding, and testing best practices
Develop standard operating procedures for artificial intelligence and data engineering principles within clinical trials
Prototype new ideas and technologies through proofs of concept and demos
Mentor other data engineers
Maintain and develop ETL pipelines
Maintain the Enterprise Data Warehouse, including updating and translating logic and supporting warehouse servers
Deliver high-quality software design documentation
Contribute to standard operating procedures
Adhere to essential systems and processes required for business and regulatory compliance
Act as a resource for debugging, code reviews, and software development lifecycle activities
Perform other related duties

What you’ll need

Fluency in Python with experience parsing, manipulating, and converting data to and from CSV, JSON, XML, HTML, SQL tables, and other formats
Deep understanding of modern RDBMS concepts, including triggers, indexes, views, stored procedures, and SQL syntax
Experience with at least one modern RDBMS
Ability to design efficient data warehouses using dimensional modeling principles for scalable reporting
Solid understanding of multiple database systems, including NoSQL and SQL
System design capabilities to improve operational efficiency and costs
Experience in the software development lifecycle
Ability to mentor other data engineers and increase team productivity
Ability to translate business requirements into clear technical specifications
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to identify issues, present problems, and implement solutions
Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical colleagues
Good leadership, organizational, and time management skills, with ability to multitask
Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with 7 years of technical experience, including approximately 4 years in a data engineering-focused role, OR 10+ years in a technical role, including approximately 5 years in a data engineering-focused role
Contract Research Organization experience and familiarity with its operations
