About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the commercial accounting function, gross-to-net, revenue recognition, and reporting
- Manage annual budgeting, long-range planning, and quarterly forecasting processes
- Own monthly reporting to the parent company and ad hoc communications
- Establish commercial finance capabilities, including order-to-cash systems, gross-to-net accrual modeling, trade/inventory accounting, and commercial risk management controls
- Establish, refine, and maintain internal controls and governance frameworks
- Streamline month-end and quarter-end close processes for timely, accurate reporting
- Build a high-performing internal accounting team and transition functions in-house
- Interpret and apply U.S. GAAP and other authoritative accounting standards
- Partner with commercial leadership to design and scale financial infrastructure, accounting processes, and revenue recognition policies for the U.S. commercial launch of Atzumi™
- Develop financial models, scenario analyses, and business cases for strategic decision-making
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages, dashboards, and executive presentations
- Analyze financial results, KPIs, and business trends, providing actionable recommendations
- Improve financial planning processes, reporting tools, and forecasting methodologies
- Ensure alignment of accounting across financial planning, reporting, and operational results
- Support corporate development activities, including financial modeling for business development opportunities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required
- 10+ years of progressive finance experience within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry
- Demonstrated expertise in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial modeling
- Experience supporting executive leadership with financial insights and business decision support
- Experience with ERP systems, financial planning tools, and advanced Excel modeling
- Strong financial modeling, analytical, and strategic planning skills
- Excellent business acumen with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights
- Strong executive communication and presentation skills
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and build collaborative partnerships
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Results-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving biotechnology environment
- MBA, CPA, CFA, or other advanced financial credential preferred
- Prior experience in a commercial-stage or late-stage biotechnology company preferred
