About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Diagnose and treat dental conditions affecting infants, children, and adolescents.
- Perform comprehensive pediatric dental examinations and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Provide preventive dental care, including fluoride applications, fissure sealants, and oral hygiene education.
- Manage dental caries, pulp therapy, restorative procedures, and other age-appropriate dental treatments.
- Assess dental development and identify abnormalities requiring early intervention or specialist referral.
- Manage anxious and uncooperative pediatric patients using appropriate behavior-management techniques.
- Provide dental trauma assessment and treatment within the scope of professional competence.
- Educate parents and caregivers on oral hygiene, nutrition, preventive care, and follow-up requirements.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with infection control, patient safety, and clinical governance standards.
- Collaborate with general dentists, orthodontists, oral surgeons, and other healthcare professionals when required.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Recognized dental degree (BDS, DDS, DMD, or equivalent).
- Recognized postgraduate specialist qualification in Pediatric Dentistry.
- Specialist training or board certification from the UK, USA, Australia, South Africa, or another recognized qualification pathway, subject to applicable licensing requirements.
- Relevant clinical experience in pediatric dentistry, including the management of children with varying dental needs.
- Eligibility for professional licensing with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DOH), subject to qualification assessment and applicable requirements.
- Current professional registration and a certificate of good standing from the relevant licensing authority, where applicable.
- Strong clinical, diagnostic, and communication skills.
- Excellent patient-management skills, particularly when working with children and their families.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice, infection control, and high standards of patient care.
