About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver direct clinical care and assume primary responsibility for the clinical management of pediatric patients in an ambulatory setting
  • Perform comprehensive health histories, physical examinations, routine well-child visits following AAP guidelines from newborn through age 21, and urgent care/same-day evaluations
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Formulate clinical diagnoses
  • Prescribe medications and therapeutic treatments
  • Develop ongoing management plans
  • Direct and participate in complex case management and continuing care transitions for patients with chronic medical, developmental, or social complexities
  • Consult and collaborate with attending physicians, pediatric subspecialists, dental and behavioral health partners, social services, and community advocacy teams
  • Contribute to organizational, clinic-wide, and departmental continuous performance and quality improvement initiatives
  • Participate in patient, family, and health care team education
  • Support community outreach initiatives and ongoing clinical research or advocacy efforts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master's degree in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program OR graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program
  • One year work experience in a pediatric or family focused clinical area
  • For Nurse Practitioners: Active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington
  • For Nurse Practitioners: Current national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner
  • For Physician Assistants: Active, unencumbered physician assistant licensure in the State of Washington
  • For Physician Assistants: Initial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
  • Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals at time of hire and continuously throughout employment, or American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) in lieu of BLS
  • Some clinical locations may require American Heart Association Pediatric Life Support training and continuous maintenance of certification
  • Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider at Seattle Children's Hospital secured prior to time of hire and maintained in good standing throughout employment
  • Preferred: Two years experience in advanced practice provider role
  • Preferred: Two years experience in pediatric health care
