About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide specialized nursing care to pediatric patients with complex ear and hearing loss needs, airway and head and neck conditions, and vascular anomalies
- Collaborate with otolaryngologists, APPs, medical assistants, audiologists, and subspecialty teams
- Assist with specialized outpatient procedures
- Empower families through comprehensive education
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the Nursing Care Process
- Provide safe, family-centered care in collaboration with patients, families, and the health care team
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Nurse Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, Certified Nursing Assistants, and others as defined by the State Administrative Code
- Incorporate Continuous Performance Improvement, Value Based Behaviors, Error Prevention, Patient Safety, and Workforce Community and Connection initiatives into daily work
- Provide primary coverage approximately 50% at the Seattle Main Campus and 50% at the Federal Way Clinic, with flexibility to work in Bellevue when needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Prior experience in a pediatric related health care setting, or a specific area of nursing, may be required for specific departments
- Current Washington State RN License, or other current state license that the RN is required to work in
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers at time of hire, unless the incumbent possesses a current appropriate Life Support Education required for their practice area
- PEARS or PALS accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Providers; ACLS is not accepted as a substitute
- Experience in pediatric surgical outpatient care, pediatric otolaryngology, or pediatric vascular anomaly care preferred
- Experience with tracheostomies, airway management, and complex head and neck care preferred
- Experience supporting ear procedures, hearing loss care, and collaborating directly with Audiology teams preferred
- Experience with vascular anomalies preferred
- Experience with complex multidisciplinary care coordination preferred
- Proficiency or fluency in a second language, e.g. Spanish, highly desirable
