About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Function within the Scope of Practice defined by Washington State, the AARC Scope and Standards for Respiratory Care Practice, and Seattle Children's Hospital policies/procedures and guidelines of care
- Ensure patient safety before and during transport to medical care facilities
- Provide basic patient care and advanced life support measures to stabilize critically ill or injured patients
- Demonstrate proficiency in neonatal and pediatric critical care respiratory practices
- Apply adaptations necessary for patient management in ambulances, aircraft, and during transit
- Follow ambulance and aircraft operating procedures and safety practices
- Be available for on-call and scheduled shifts
- Support Seattle Children's strategic goals and initiatives, including Continuous Improvement and Innovation and Seattle Children's Values
- Serve as a member of the mobile transport team with Registered Nurses and Emergency Medical Technicians
- Work from the Main Campus or an off-campus base determined by volume and efficiency
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of accredited school of Respiratory Therapy
- Minimum of two (2) years current pediatric intensive care (PICU), cardiac intensive care (CICU), or neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) experience
- Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Current Washington State RCP License
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required to be obtained within three (3) months of start date
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP), or obtain during orientation and no later than six (6) months from the start date
- For RTs performing moderately complex point of care testing, a copy of a diploma or transcript of the highest level of academic achievement must be on record with Human Resources upon hire
- Personnel trained outside of the U.S. must provide documented equivalency evaluation by a foreign credentialing agency
- A current passport or WA Enhanced ID is a prerequisite to hiring
- Must have passport available during all shifts
- Must carry passport on all transports
