About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own and execute territory sales strategy across Group Life, AD&D, and Supplemental Health/Voluntary Benefits
- Drive profitable growth, sales, and market-development objectives across the Midwest territory
- Develop and expand channel partner relationships
- Generate new business through prospecting, partnerships, market development, and employer engagement
- Manage sales processes from opportunity identification through close
- Qualify opportunities, assess and submit RFPs, develop proposals, deliver finalist presentations, negotiate, and follow up
- Apply a consultative, multi-product approach to employer benefit needs
- Partner with the Regional Sales Vice President on territory priorities and strategic opportunities
- Collaborate with sales enablement, product, underwriting, client relationships, strategic partnerships, enrollment, implementation, and other internal teams
- Develop and deliver sales presentations articulating Securian's value proposition
- Develop annual channel partner engagement strategies and measurable objectives
- Maintain opportunity, pipeline, activity, and relationship information in Salesforce
- Use data to prioritize activity, identify trends, and improve territory performance
- Provide competitive and market intelligence to inform product and business strategy
- Identify emerging customer needs and opportunities to strengthen Securian's employee benefits value proposition
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven successful sales experience in employee benefits, insurance, financial services, or a similarly complex business-to-business sales environment
- Demonstrated ability to generate and secure sales within the mid-to-large employer market
- Experience managing complex, consultative sales cycles
- Broad knowledge of group benefits and the insurance ecosystem
- Expertise in Life, AD&D, and Voluntary Benefits
- Knowledge of Disability and Absence Solutions preferred
- Professionalism, integrity, sound judgment, and credibility
- Ability to develop, maintain, and expand channel partner and client relationships
- Strong business and financial acumen
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Strong persuasion, negotiation, and influencing skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Initiative, creativity, and persistence in sales development
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and time-sensitive opportunities
- Ability to collaborate across Sales, Client Relationship, Product, Underwriting, Implementation, and other teams
- Ability to adapt to changing market conditions, priorities, products, and strategies
- Proactive and self-directed with limited supervision
- Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Active Life and health insurance license preferred
