About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive profitable growth across Securian Financial’s employee benefits portfolio, including Group Life, AD&D, and Supplemental Health/Voluntary Benefits
- Develop and execute territory sales strategy in partnership with the Regional Sales Vice President
- Build and maintain relationships with channel partners, strategic partners, and employers
- Identify and develop new business opportunities
- Generate and manage RFP activity
- Lead opportunities from prospecting and qualification through proposal, presentations, negotiations, and close
- Apply a consultative, multi-product approach to employer benefit needs
- Coordinate sales activity and pursue strategic opportunities with the Regional Sales Vice President
- Collaborate with sales enablement, product, underwriting, client relationships, strategic partnerships, enrollment, implementation, and other internal partners
- Develop and deliver compelling sales presentations
- Develop annual channel partner engagement strategies and measurable objectives
- Maintain opportunity, pipeline, activity, and relationship information in Salesforce
- Use sales data to prioritize activity, identify trends, and improve territory performance
- Provide competitive and market intelligence to inform product and business strategy
- Identify emerging customer needs and opportunities to strengthen Securian’s employee benefits value proposition
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven successful sales experience within employee benefits, insurance, financial services, or a similarly complex business-to-business sales environment
- Demonstrated ability to generate and secure sales within the mid-to-large employer market
- Experience managing complex, consultative sales cycles
- Broad knowledge of the group benefits and insurance ecosystem
- Expertise in Life, AD&D, and Voluntary Benefits
- Knowledge of Disability and Absence Solutions preferred
- Proven professionalism and integrity
- Ability to develop, maintain, and expand channel partner and client relationships
- Strong business and financial acumen
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Effective presentation skills
- Strong persuasion, negotiation, and influencing skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Initiative, creativity, and persistence in sales development
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and time-sensitive opportunities
- Ability to collaborate across Sales, Client Relationship, Product, Underwriting, Implementation, and other teams
- Ability to adapt to changing market conditions, priorities, products, and strategies
- Proactive and self-directed with ability to act with limited supervision
- Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Active Life and health insurance license preferred
