About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare, submit, review, analyze, and report tax- and expense-related exhibits and schedules for financial reporting, regulatory filings, budgeting, planning, and statutory reporting
  • Prepare and review monthly reports and respond to inquiries and requests from external sources
  • Prepare exhibits and schedules for quarterly and annual subsidiary financial statement filings and tax reporting
  • Support Company financial statements and analytics
  • Respond to external agencies and auditors
  • Assist with employee training
  • Prepare state income tax forms, sales tax returns, premium and municipal taxes, state tax forms, and federal income tax workpapers
  • Prepare, analyze, and review financial statements, expenses, taxes, licenses, and fees
  • Act as Third Party Administrator to prepare monthly financial reports for MetLife
  • Create, review, and approve general ledger entries and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Prepare and review bank reconciliations and assist in daily banking transactions
  • Work with departments on correcting accounting entries and accounting and internal audit training
  • Research accounting variances and assist management and auditors with supporting documentation
  • Handle complex processing issues and provide processing support as a Senior Accountant
  • Respond to tax agencies, auditors, regulatory agencies, and other external sources
  • Prepare statutory exhibits under management supervision
  • Create dashboards and analytics in Adaptive software

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Accounting is required for the Accountant position; internship experience may be considered
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Accounting is required for the Senior Accountant position
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting is required
  • Experience with accounting software, especially QuickBooks, is preferred
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and organize a heavy workload
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • Accountant (CPA) Certification is preferred for the Senior Accountant position
