About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee Appraisal Support Operations and related workflow processes
  • Oversee the office website
  • Perform batch processing for mass appraisal and assessment calculations
  • Generate real and personal property assessment rolls for operational and statutory processes
  • Process and monitor interfaces between appraisal and tax systems
  • Serve as the principal technical contact for appraisal and recording systems
  • Respond to user issues, access requests, and office hardware concerns
  • Assist IT with system, software, and application updates
  • Escalate complex appraisal system, application, and accessibility issues to IT staff or software vendors
  • Administer Department Application Security responsibilities and related processes
  • Monitor application performance and recommend process improvements and system enhancements
  • Manage office technology replacement planning
  • Coordinate office technology requests through the Technology Review Board process
  • Create, process, and maintain compliance reports and narratives
  • Process SQL data requests and perform data extraction
  • Assist with Kansas Open Records Act requests
  • Coordinate annual substantial compliance reporting with project leaders, office administration, and the Kansas Department of Revenue Division of Property Valuation
  • Supervise Appraisal Data Entry staff, coordinate workflow and quality control, provide technical support and training, and collaborate with appraisal staff, IT personnel, and vendors

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of experience or training in the use of supporting desktop or appraisal applications
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience
  • Within 2 years of hire date, successfully complete Orion Introduction and Overview of Basic Functionality
  • Within 2 years of hire date, successfully complete IAAO Course 101 – Fundamentals of Real Property Appraisal
  • Within 2 years of hire date, successfully complete IAAO Course 102 – Income Approach to Valuation
  • Within 2 years of hire date, successfully complete Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP)
  • Within 2 years of hire date, successfully complete Kansas Property Tax Law
  • Ability to remain accessible while working in the field and, as needed, outside normal business hours
  • Ability to receive work-related communications and access the County’s network remotely through a reliable internet connection
