About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervise the operation of multiple teams of workers compensation examiners and technical staff
- Monitor colleagues' workloads, provide training, and monitor individual claim activities
- Provide technical and jurisdictional direction to examiner reports on claims adjudication
- Maintain a diary on claims, including complex or high-exposure claims
- Analyze and process complex or technically difficult general liability claims
- Investigate and gather information to determine claim exposure
- Manage claims through action plans to timely resolution
- Manage the litigation process and ensure timely, cost-effective claims resolution
- Coordinate vendor referrals for additional investigation or litigation management
- Lead team meetings and assign accountability for follow-up items
- Gather compliance and claims-processing information for team meetings
- Assist in interviews of adjusters and clerical staff and provide feedback to the hiring manager
- Support monthly review of adjuster workloads, identify trends, and suggest adjustments
- Administer company personnel policies and follow staffing and training standards
- Interview, hire, establish performance development plans, and conduct performance discussions
- Provide support, guidance, leadership, and motivation to promote maximum performance
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5 years of claims management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred
- Professional certification as applicable to line of business preferred
- Jurisdiction knowledge: CA or NV
- Ability to supervise multiple teams of examiners and technical staff
- Clear and conceptual thinking ability
- Excellent judgment, troubleshooting, problem solving, analysis, and discretion
- Ability to handle work-related stress and multiple priorities simultaneously
- Ability to meet deadlines
