Key responsibilities & impact

Handle a diverse caseload of general liability matters, including premises liability, property damage, personal injury defense, construction-related general liability, Child Victim Act, trucking/transportation, and other tort and civil litigation
Manage cases from inception through resolution or trial
Draft pleadings, discovery, and motions
Take and defend depositions
Conduct legal research and develop case strategies
Participate in mediations, arbitrations, court conferences, and trials
Communicate with clients, carriers, and opposing counsel
Collaborate with partners and other team members on case strategy

Requirements

What you’ll need

Active license to practice law in New York (required)
1+ year of civil litigation experience, ideally with a focus on general liability defense
Strong litigation skills: pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, and client reporting
Excellent legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills
Ability to independently manage multiple cases and deadlines
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Experience with mediation, arbitration, or trial is a plus
Dual licensure in another jurisdiction is a bonus (CT preferred)
