About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement the on-ship co-curricular program
  • Respond to student concerns and critical incidents
  • Encourage students' intellectual growth and personal development
  • Support the general welfare of all students, especially those assigned to the Coordinator's residential area
  • Improve student quality of life through programming, community development, policy enforcement, and appropriate student relationships
  • Serve as a rotating on-call first responder, remaining on ship while on call, sometimes for 24 hours straight
  • Manage an assigned student assistant
  • Complete an assigned collateral responsibility such as Exploration, Well-Being and Recreation, Inclusion and Belonging, Reflection, Student Activities, or Organizations and Clubs
  • Attend in-person Student Life Team Orientation in Fort Collins, Colorado
  • Participate in pre-voyage training calls and scheduled HR, orientation, and team training calls
  • Advise student leaders and organizations, coordinate programs and events, and support student learning, well-being, inclusion, reflection, recreation, and community development depending on collateral assignment

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Available for a full semester assignment
  • Valid U.S. work authorization
  • Valid passport and required visas, or ability to obtain them, plus required vaccinations as directed or required by the program
  • Passports valid for 6 months post voyage
  • U.S. passport holders recommended to have at least 15 blank passport pages
  • Successfully pass a background check
  • Support ISE's mission and commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • Knowledge of and ability to support culturally diverse communities
  • 3+ years of full-time professional experience in student affairs working with undergraduate students in a college or university setting
  • Master's degree in higher education and student affairs administration or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience supporting student learning and academic success
  • Experience creating environments where students feel free to ask questions and obtain assistance
  • Flexibility and ability to complete tasks quickly
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to relate effectively with program constituents
  • Detail-oriented, with ability to balance multiple priorities in a complex and dynamic environment
  • Ability to exercise good judgment on a range of issues
  • Experience responding to emergency or crisis situations
  • Preferred: training and/or participation in diversity, inclusion and equity initiatives
  • Preferred: 2 years of graduate or 1 year of full-time residence life experience
  • Preferred: experience advising student organizations
  • Preferred: experience serving in an on-call capacity at an institution of higher education
  • Ability to perform required physical duties, including computer work, extended walking and standing, lifting/carrying/bending/moving objects up to 25 lbs, and climbing stairs
