About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide patient care under the direction of a professional RN nurse
- Support independent and dependent activities of daily living
- Perform vital signs, mobility and ambulation support
- Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and EKG testing
- Remove peripheral IVs
- Collect specimens
- Insert and remove Foley catheters
- Comply with patient safety practices
- Observe patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions
- Document in a timely and accurate manner
- Report patient condition changes to the nurse or medical staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- HS Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- One of the following required: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program; Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA); National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT); completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School; Emergency Services qualification including EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT or Paramedic; current student enrolled beyond prerequisites in a clinical program with at least one semester completed in RN, LPN, RT or PT; or current work experience within the last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant
- Basic Life Support Certification
- Ability to provide patient care and support activities of daily living
- Phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and Foley catheter insertion and removal
