About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, build, and operate Streaming Platform components, including Kafka, the streaming runtime, high-level APIs, and developer-facing abstractions
- Implement resilient, high-throughput stream-processing systems handling unbounded datasets with strong correctness guarantees
- Build scalable Kafka fleet-management automation and control plane
- Partner with product engineers to enable fast, reliable, and consistent ingestion pipelines
- Improve observability, monitoring, and failover for mission-critical real-time systems
- Build infrastructure powering ingestion pipelines and real-time data processing systems
- Simplify Kafka complexity, scale consumers automatically, and manage state for Streaming Applications
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least 2-3 years of software engineering experience, with background in distributed systems, data infrastructure, or real-time streaming
- Proficiency in Python, Rust, Go, Java, or similar programming languages
- Experience building and operating systems in cloud environments such as Kubernetes, AWS, or GCP
- Experience with distributed systems, data infrastructure, or real-time streaming
- Nice to have: experience with Kafka, Flink, Spark Streaming, or similar tools
- Must work three days per week in the San Francisco office
- Must be willing to join the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays
