About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and validate electrical circuits, printed circuit boards (PCBs), and interconnect systems for autonomous robotic platforms
- Develop schematics, component selections, and electrical designs meeting performance, reliability, and cost requirements
- Support PCB layout reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams on manufacturable and maintainable designs
- Perform bring-up, validation, and characterization of new electrical hardware with firmware and software teams
- Troubleshoot electrical and system-level issues and conduct structured root cause analysis
- Develop and execute test plans verifying electrical subsystem performance and reliability
- Contribute to prototype development, hardware integration, and system testing throughout the product lifecycle
- Partner with manufacturing teams, vendors, and suppliers on builds, issue resolution, and design improvements
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, test results, and design records
- Provide occasional onsite support for prototype builds, manufacturing activities, and engineering validation efforts
- Support Serve Robotics' autonomous sidewalk robot delivery platform, which serves merchants, customers, and pedestrians
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of experience in the design and test of electrical systems in robotics, consumer electronics, or other applicable fields
- Hands-on experience debugging and testing electrical subsystems using typical lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, function generators, spectrum analyzers, and electronic loads
- Experience designing, integrating, and debugging embedded systems
- Experience in hardware prototype bring-up, debug, fault detection, and failure analysis
- Experience with one of the major ECAD tools; Altium preferred
- Experience with high-speed circuits and signal integrity measurements
- Experience debugging CAN, SPI, UART, I2C, and USB interfaces
- Experience developing Python or Bash scripts for automating hardware tests
- Experience testing for EMC/EMI compliance
- Familiarity with the Nvidia Jetson platform
- Experience with camera, LiDAR, radar, or ultrasonic sensor modalities
- Experience with cellular networking
- Experience with cable harness design
- Experience working with factory support and overseas vendor partnerships
- Experience working with internal and external developers, test teams, and lab technicians
- Comfortable working in laboratory, development, and manufacturing environments
- Occasional travel may be required
