About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform residential and/or light commercial HVAC service and maintenance calls
  • Analyze, diagnose, and resolve customer problems
  • Diagnose and service heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment and accessories
  • Inspect equipment and perform diagnostics to identify potential problems
  • Complete routine maintenance and equipment cleaning
  • Deliver and remove parts and equipment needed for service work
  • Record customer-call information using a handheld device; complete forms and paperwork
  • Collect customer payments
  • Communicate with dispatch regarding activity status and availability
  • Deliver excellent customer service and sustain high customer satisfaction
  • Promote products and services and communicate replacement-product sales leads
  • Maintain and account for company property, vehicles, and tools
  • Stock company vehicles, return defective warranty parts, and replenish vehicle stock
  • Follow safety procedures, use required PPE, report hazards and incidents, and participate in safety initiatives
  • Perform similar or other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's degree/Certification in HVAC or related field or equivalent experience
  • Solid understanding of HVAC systems
  • Previous experience as an Installer, Maintenance, or Service Technician
  • 2 to 5 years’ experience in HVAC with technical training certification required
  • Must possess all valid licensing or certification as required by federal, state, provincial, or local governmental laws or regulations for the geographical work area
  • EPA and safety certifications required
  • Skilled at servicing heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment as well as related accessories
  • Proficient mechanical aptitude and ability to operate necessary tools and equipment
  • Proficient at reading wiring diagrams and troubleshooting electrical, refrigerant, and duct systems
  • Able to start up and balance airflow and align belts and pulleys with little to no supervision
  • Able to install a basic duct fitting
  • Able to troubleshoot and repair electronic air cleaners, refrigeration systems, hot water systems, steam boiler systems, humidifiers, and related equipment
  • Effective communication, time-management, and organizational skills
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Available to work flexible hours and on-call shifts as needed
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders and attic stairs, and maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, outdoor, indoor, dry, humid, slippery, elevated, and congested environments
  • Ability to safely climb 300lb load-capacity-rated ladders with a 30lb tool belt
  • Natural or corrected vision with normal depth perception
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Minimum Experience: 2+ years
  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED
