About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist patients, staff, and physicians to maintain efficient operations, customer service, and quality care
  • Float among designated Sharp Rees-Stealy clinics as staffing and business needs arise
  • Perform clinical tests and procedures within scope of practice
  • Administer and document medications safely and accurately
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures; obtain consents; prepare and label biopsies
  • Document patient care and manage AEHR tasks within prescribed timelines
  • Triage patient concerns, route issues to physicians, return calls, and schedule appointments as needed
  • Provide patient education and teaching in partnership with physicians
  • Apply infection-control policies and universal precautions
  • Assist PSRs with scheduling, telephone management, and front-desk issues
  • Monitor patient flow and physician schedules; complete daily operational tasks
  • Manage telephone messages, urgent situations, supplies, inventories, authorizations, surgeries, and procedures
  • Participate in clinical projects, site inspections, quality assurance, and quality initiatives
  • Maintain narcotic control procedures and assist with prescription reconciliation
  • Operate department equipment and activate emergency procedures per protocol

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) — CA Board of Vocational Nursing & Psychiatric Technicians — REQUIRED
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) — American Heart Association — REQUIRED
  • 1 Year LVN experience in related clinical area — PREFERRED
  • Ambulatory care experience — PREFERRED
  • ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) — American Heart Association — PREFERRED
  • IV Certification (NPTA Sterile Product Certification) — Employee provides certificate — PREFERRED
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical skill and nursing judgment
  • Typing proficiency of at least 30 words per minute with 0–2 errors
  • Knowledge of insurance, utilization review, scheduling requirements, and front desk responsibilities
  • Ability to operate and maintain department equipment
