About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist patients, staff, and physicians to maintain operational efficiency, customer service, and quality care
  • Demonstrate clinical knowledge and skills within scope of practice
  • Perform and assist with tests and procedures
  • Administer medications safely and accurately, with required verification and documentation
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures; obtain consents; prepare and label biopsies
  • Document patient care accurately according to protocol
  • Listen to patients, collect information, assess urgency, and route issues to physicians
  • Return phone calls and may schedule patient appointments
  • Provide patient education in partnership with physicians
  • Follow universal precautions and infection-control policies
  • Assist PSRs with scheduling and telephone-management issues
  • Participate in clinical projects directed by physicians or managers
  • Organize daily department requirements and monitor patient flow and physician schedules
  • Manage telephone messages and troubleshoot problem calls
  • Enter OCM and IDX information according to policy
  • Respond to urgent and emergent situations and prioritize patient needs
  • Maintain supplies, inventories, reports, and inspection readiness
  • Enter authorizations and schedule surgeries and procedures
  • Assist in other departments and travel to other sites as business needs arise
  • Complete nursing competency testing and quality-assurance assignments
  • Maintain narcotic-control procedures and assist with prescription reconciliation
  • Support quality initiatives including P4P, BMI, and DataMart
  • Operate department equipment and information systems
  • Activate emergency procedures and complete AEHR tasks
  • Support new applications and policies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - CA Board of Vocational Nursing & Psychiatric Technicians - REQUIRED
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association - REQUIRED
  • 1 Year LVN experience in related clinical area
  • Ambulatory care experience
  • ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association - PREFERRED
  • IV Certification (NPTA Sterile Product Certification) - Various-Employee provides certificate - PREFERRED
  • Weekend availability as needed
  • Ability to travel to other sites as business needs arise
  • Proficient and accurate typing at a minimum of 30 words per minute with 0-2 errors
  • Knowledge of insurance, utilization review, scheduling requirements and front desk responsibilities
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical skills and nursing judgment
