About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide quality nursing care to the designated pediatric patient population
- Assist patients, staff, and physicians to maintain operational efficiency and customer service
- Assist with leadership of Nursing and Patient Service Representative staff
- Serve as technical nursing expert for assigned areas
- Float between Sharp Rees-Stealy Pediatric locations including Otay Ranch, La Mesa, Santee, Scripps Ranch, Sorrento Mesa, San Diego Main, and Rancho Bernardo
- Perform patient assessments, tests, procedures, examinations, consents, biopsies, documentation, education, and telephone triage
- Support scheduling, telephone management, patient flow, authorizations, surgeries, and procedures
- Respond to urgent and emergent situations and maintain supplies, inventories, and inspection readiness
- Train and educate staff and act as a resource and role model
- Administer and verify medications safely and maintain narcotic controls
- Complete quality assurance assignments and quality initiatives
- Use clinical equipment and information systems, activate emergency procedures, and complete AEHR tasks
- Assist in other departments and travel to other sites as business needs arise
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1 Year RN experience in related clinical area
- California Registered Nurse (RN)
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare)
- IV proficient
- Ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute with 0-2 errors
- Knowledge of insurance, utilization review, scheduling requirements and front desk responsibilities
- Ability to operate and maintain department equipment
- ACLS Certification preferred, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Leadership experience preferred
