About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Produce reports and prepare data for financial statements, regulatory reporting, external audits, medical cost ratios, third party liability, claims recovery, and other financial information
- Audit capitation, pharmacy payments, and broker and general agency commissions
- Support accounting and finance activities as needed
- Assist with budget development, refund, and returned check processes
- Assist with the annual budget process by updating spreadsheets with actual data and management budget assumptions
- Maintain monthly documentation of medical groups, rates, and dollar amounts comprising monthly capitation cost
- Post claims recoveries to the IDX MCA system and produce refund requests for erroneous duplicate collections
- Research and resolve returned claims checks and other claim refunds
- Provide prompt, accurate service to internal and external customers
- Develop professional working relationships with internal departments, vendors, providers, employers, brokers, and other customers
- Assist in preparation of financial reports
- Participate in special projects, work groups, proposals, audits, and backup support
- Prepare assigned regulatory reports, including DMHC financial information and informational 990 tax filing
- Utilize Data Warehouse and Excel to supply routine and ad hoc reports
- Work closely with Sharp Health Plan and Sharp HealthCare department members to ensure efficient communication and operations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate's Degree
- Combination of Associate Degree or some college with three years accounting experience acceptable
- 3 Years Experience in an accounting department or an accounting role, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Computer skills, including experience with Excel required
- Good communication skills, both written and oral
- Good documentation skills with the ability to keep neat, accurate and concise records
- Familiarity with automated financial systems desirable
- Ability to exercise discretion regarding confidentiality of internal and external issues
