About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the Gas & Power trading business through independent market risk measurement and exposure monitoring
- Analyse and explain daily P&L movements and key portfolio risk drivers
- Perform VaR, stress testing, sensitivity analysis, and other market risk analyses
- Monitor trading exposures and limits under the Trading Control Framework and Manual of Authorities
- Provide risk commentary on commodity trading portfolios, particularly Gas and Power
- Conduct ad hoc data analysis and reporting using trading risk databases and reporting tools
- Partner with traders, business stakeholders, and technology teams to resolve risk reporting and application issues
- Develop and maintain reporting solutions, dashboards, and performance metrics
- Lead business improvement initiatives and risk-related projects
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, SOX controls, Shell Control Framework, and internal policies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Postgraduate degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Science, or a related quantitative discipline
- Strong understanding of market risk concepts including VaR, stress testing, sensitivity analysis, basis risk, volume risk, and currency risk
- Knowledge of commodity markets, preferably LNG, Natural Gas, and Power trading
- Experience working with risk management platforms such as Endur and Nucleus
- Hands-on experience with SQL and Oracle
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar data visualization tools
- Ability to analyse large datasets and communicate findings effectively to senior stakeholders
- Strong stakeholder management, problem-solving, and project leadership capabilities
- FRM or CFA certification preferred
- Experience supporting trading and risk management functions within commodity markets preferred
