About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead Keele and Sault Ste. Marie terminal operations assets and teams
  • Deliver safe, compliant, and reliable operations for Shell fuel customers
  • Maintain Shell and regulatory compliance and Shell’s License to Operate
  • Represent Shell to local municipalities and maintain community relationships
  • Build relationships with Government Relations, Legal Teams, Canadian Fuels Association, Toronto Industrial Network, and other external associations
  • Set priorities, oversee competency evaluations, complete performance reviews, support training and development, recognize performance, and address gaps
  • Direct contractor resources in accordance with health, safety, and Code of Conduct standards
  • Develop and demonstrate site-specific HSSE programs, including communications, training, contractor management, compliance reviews, incident investigations, procedures, regulator involvement, and audits
  • Manage product inventories, tank optimization, stock reconciliation, and product receipt interfaces
  • Maintain emergency response preparedness and execute mandated drills
  • Develop and manage social performance plans and local emergency response plans
  • Maintain terminal reliability, minimize unplanned downtime, and ensure product availability
  • Optimize terminal assets through maintenance, capital investment, and corporate standards
  • Collaborate with engineering and subject matter experts on asset integrity issues and action plans
  • Manage relationships with fire, police, industrial associations, emergency responders, environmental agencies, MECP, TSSA, and Transport Canada
  • Apply continuous improvement and support automation/digitalization of distribution processes
  • Develop, budget, and execute annual maintenance work
  • Assess operations against standards and procedures through the Line of Defence program
  • Manage operating budgets, stock loss/gain reporting, expenditure forecasting, and budget planning
  • Collaborate with Supply, HSSE, Product Quality, Mobility, Engineering, and Distribution Operations teams
  • Develop optimized annual NRM execution approaches
  • Participate in the emergency response organization on-call rotation
  • Travel to the SSM Terminal approximately 4–6 times per year
  • Review SSM Joint Venture site performance and adherence to the JV contract

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis
  • Degree qualification and/or equivalent relevant experience
  • 10 or more years of relevant industry experience, preferably in oil and gas
  • Demonstrated capability and experience in Asset Management, Team Leadership, and Risk Management
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, provincial, municipal, and regional legislation, bylaws, and regulations for HSSE compliance
  • Capability to manage key internal and external relationships across department and property boundaries
  • Strong technical/operational skill sets, likely including Engineering and/or maintenance/operations background
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Time management skills
  • Knowledge of process safety/safeguarding fundamentals and Hazard Effects Management Process (HEMP) is an asset
  • Knowledge of Commissioning, Start-up and Operational Readiness, including Pre-Startup Safety Review and Statement of Fitness, is an asset
  • Mandatory online assessment must be successfully completed within 3 days of receiving the invitation
