About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and oversee detailed electro-mechanical designs, layouts, testing, and evaluation of audio products and systems
- Create fully defined 3D models and 2D documentation using CAD software
- Validate designs using tolerance analysis, FEA, DFM, DFA, and occasionally CAE tools
- Design components manufacturable through injection molding, die casting, machining, and sheet metal forming
- Interact with in-house Tooling Engineers and external suppliers
- Fabricate design prototypes using SLA, 3D printing, and model shop methods
- Lead experiments to solve complex engineering problems and validate simulations such as FloTHERM thermal analysis
- Perform feasibility studies and testing on new or modified designs
- Participate in cross-functional product development teams
- Prepare and conduct mechanical design reviews and peer reviews
- Support production and manufacturing through the engineering change process
- Provide work leadership and guidance to less-experienced engineering and technical staff
- Prepare mechanical engineering studies, specifications, and cost estimates
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering concepts involving wireless and/or audio product development
- Experience contributing to the development of company objectives and standards
- Experience with 3D CAD solid modeling software
- Knowledge of Siemens NX preferred
- Strong working knowledge of rapid prototyping techniques, including SLA, 3D Printing, and model shop methods
- Ability to work on significant and unique mechanical design issues requiring evaluation of intangibles
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria
- Ability to work effectively in a leadership role and collaborative, cross-functional team environment
- Ability to complete new assignments and provide guidance to less-experienced engineering staff and internal customers
- Strong communication skills and ability to prepare and give presentations to all organizational levels
- Conversational use of Spanish and/or Mandarin helpful
- Must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States
