About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing and posting journals for accruals, prepayments, payroll and other accounting adjustments
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigate reconciling items and resolve outstanding balances
  • Review general ledger accounts, identify errors and unusual movements, and explain significant variances
  • Maintain accurate accounting records in Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Prepare and reconcile intercompany balances and cross-border recharges
  • Assist with Group consolidation and financial reporting packs
  • Provide regular and ad hoc reports and analysis to operational leaders
  • Investigate actual expenditure against budget and forecast
  • Explain financial results, challenge assumptions and identify opportunities to improve performance
  • Prepare and review statutory accounts and year-end files
  • Maintain audit-ready balance sheet and general ledger records
  • Work with the external accounting partner
  • Support accounting, tax and financial reporting compliance
  • Complete tax, payroll and finance-related reconciliations
  • Identify and escalate control weaknesses or accounting issues
  • Work with shared services and finance colleagues on billing, accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Coordinate accurate transaction recording in the correct accounting period
  • Prepare monthly forecasts and the annual budget
  • Support monthly consolidation and upload financial data to the Group consolidation platform
  • Prepare weekly and monthly cash forecasts with Group Treasury
  • Review payroll data, compensation, deductions and tax calculations
  • Support development of internal payroll capability and bringing payroll activities in-house
  • Simplify, standardise and automate recurring accounting and reporting processes
  • Document accounting processes, reconciliations and control procedures
  • Support Group Finance initiatives, system improvements and accounting process changes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and/or qualified accountant status (CA, CPA or equivalent)
  • Candidates actively pursuing a professional accounting qualification will also be considered
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards such as GAAP or IFRS
  • Intermediate or above proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word, with particular emphasis on Excel
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Analytical mindset and strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience in small or medium-sized companies is preferred
  • Ability to manage accounting and reporting responsibilities independently, explain financial results clearly and build effective relationships
  • Experience in accounting, finance management, month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, statutory accounting, tax, payroll, financial reporting, intercompany accounting and cash forecasting
