About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage project activities throughout the product lifecycle, from initial design concepts to final delivery
  • Direct the technical baseline, design trades, and qualification for the missile propulsion subsystem
  • Manage propulsion supplier technical performance, interface control documents, and statements of work for propulsion subcontracts
  • Lead cross-IPT coordination with Aerodynamics, Thermal, GNC, and Airframe disciplines on thrust profiles, inlet integration, internal volume packaging, and thermal boundary conditions
  • Plan and oversee propulsion subsystem test campaigns, including sub-scale testing, static motor hot-fire tests, environmental screening, and range flight test integration
  • Lead propulsion technical baseline at formal customer reviews
  • Interface with internal teams and external customers to ensure successful project execution
  • Occasional travel to customer or field locations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field
  • 10+ years' experience in engineering roles with at least 2+ years in a leadership role
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering principles and practice
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development team
  • Detailed understanding of requirements management, system design, and integration
  • Experience in aerospace propulsion engineering, including design, analysis, integration, and testing of missile propulsion systems
  • Ability to obtain and maintain United States secret security clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required
  • 4–6 years relevant leadership and/or project management experience preferred
  • Experience with advanced project management tools and methodologies preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations preferred
  • Experience leading a multi-disciplinary design and development team and communicating with program management and customers preferred
  • Familiarity with project estimates, technical proposals, and program cost and schedule management preferred
  • Experience leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including integrated trade studies and analysis of alternatives preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, parts lists, specifications, instructions, and test procedures preferred
  • Experience or certification in International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) standard preferred
  • Direct experience with supersonic or high-speed propulsion integration and high-speed inlet/nozzle aerothermodynamics preferred
  • Experience with Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) development preferred
  • Experience managing external propulsion subcontractors, technical statements of work, and supplier qualification test programs preferred
  • Familiarity with energetic materials handling, ordnance safety, and range safety standards preferred
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry preferred
  • Ability to work primarily in an office or hybrid environment
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally
  • Prolonged periods of working on a computer
  • Hand and finger dexterity for computer use
  • Capability to work in potentially hazardous environments when visiting project sites
