About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to major programs
  • Maintain the technical baseline for major programs
  • Chair Engineering Review Boards and capture changes in the requirement baseline
  • Chair Failure Review Boards and adjudicate gaps and root-cause corrective actions
  • Oversee design, development, testing, and verification of systems and components
  • Advise across programs and solve complex multidisciplinary technical problems
  • Drive resolution of technical issues and serve as final technical decision-maker for customers
  • Participate in program milestone meetings and proposals
  • Partner with IPT Leads on work-breakdown tasking and structure
  • Build and execute cross-program technical strategies
  • Translate technical strategy into executable plans and guide execution
  • Interact with internal and external executive-level management
  • Drive innovation in engineering practices and track emerging technologies
  • Develop technical strategies and roadmaps supporting long-term organizational objectives
  • Uphold company values and hold others accountable

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree, or Master's degree plus 14 years of experience
  • Typically requires 16+ years of related experience
  • Multidisciplinary engineering expertise and subject matter expertise for a significant program
  • Experience leading significant projects, interacting cross-functionally, and driving engineering decisions
  • Experience using first principles to plan and execute analysis throughout a program life cycle
  • Experience acting as a technical advisor on complex engineering projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices
  • Ability to build and execute strategy across programs
  • Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance required; TS/SCI preferred
  • Experience with propulsion system integration
  • Preferred: Master's or Ph.D. in engineering, aerospace, or related discipline
  • Preferred: Extensive aerospace or closely related industry experience
  • Preferred: Program management, strategic planning, executive stakeholder engagement, external stakeholder management, cross-functional collaboration, continuous improvement, technical publications or patents
  • Preferred: PE licensure, PMP, or relevant technical certifications
