About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and execute medium-sized technical projects
  • Ensure successful integration of engineering solutions and drive team innovation
  • Oversee engineering project design, development, and implementation
  • Manage programmatic functions while meeting technical, quality, cost, and schedule constraints
  • Serve as a bridge between Engineering and the Program Office
  • Lead medium-sized cross-functional teams and balance technical and programmatic constraints
  • Provide technical estimation support for Bases of Estimates, proposals, and contracts
  • Conduct trade studies and lead technical evaluations
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Develop and manage supplier Statements of Work
  • Address supplier issues and create return-to-green plans for supplier schedules
  • Support Program Management Teams through Risk Management and Cost/Schedule management
  • Interface with customers and stakeholders and coordinate across engineering and functional teams
  • Communicate technical concepts, plans, and actions verbally and in writing
  • Deliver project status updates, Key Performance Indicators, and Technical Performance Metrics to leadership
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and represent stakeholder perspectives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree, or Master's degree plus 6 years of experience
  • Typically 8+ years of related experience
  • Strong technical foundation with demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Understanding of key programmatic disciplines, such as Cost/Schedule management
  • Ability to lead medium-sized cross-functional teams and projects
  • Extensive technical expertise and experience in the relevant engineering discipline
  • Proven track record of successfully leading technical teams through project execution
  • Strong project management skills, including handling complex engineering design evaluations and resolving issues
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills
  • Progressive experience managing projects across the entire development life cycle
  • Expertise in project management techniques and processes, including EVMS, CAM, or equivalent
  • Expertise in implementing and executing effective risk and opportunity management
  • Ability to work and communicate with technical and specialty subject matter experts across functional disciplines
  • Clear verbal and written communication of technical concepts, plans, and actions
  • Preferred: PMP certification; systems engineering and integration; MS Project or Primavera; CAD software and engineering design tools; industry standards and regulations; PLM; Agile and Lean methodologies; project budgeting; managing multiple projects; innovation and continuous improvement
