About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and implement advanced system solutions throughout the product development lifecycle
- Own the system model as the authoritative source of truth
- Integrate segments and subsystems through top-down requirements decomposition and bottom-up system validation and verification
- Shepherd technical teams through development milestones
- Track performance measures and identify technical risks
- Specify, architect, and integrate complex system solutions within the system model
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts on project requirements and objectives
- Derive, decompose, allocate, trace, and manage system requirements and architectures within the MBSE environment
- Define and document system concepts of operation
- Maintain system model integrity, structure, and configuration, including access, version control, and change control
- Create model-derived artifacts and deliverables for development milestone reviews
- Oversee system integration and verification activities
- Develop technical risk mitigation strategies
- Refine modeling standards, templates, and best practices
- Communicate with team members and stakeholders to ensure project alignment and execution
- May lead small teams and establish modeling standards and conventions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree, or Master's plus 3 years of experience
- Typically 5+ years of related experience, or Master's plus 3 years of experience
- Emerging expertise in Systems Engineering principles and practices, including the systems development lifecycle
- Knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation
- Knowledge of systems architecture, systems integration, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles
- Hands-on experience building, structuring, and maintaining models in an MBSE tool such as CAMEO EA, Rhapsody, or a comparable SysML modeling environment
- Ability to work and communicate with technical and specialty subject matter expert engineers
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance
- Current/active Secret U.S. Security Clearance required
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Preferred: Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field
- Preferred: Experience with DOORS, CAMEO EA, Rhapsody, Matlab, and SysML
- Preferred: Experience defining model governance, configuration management, and version control practices
- Preferred: Experience establishing modeling standards, conventions, and templates
- Preferred: Understanding of spacecraft systems, project management methodologies, technical baselines, and configuration management
- Preferred: Experience leading projects and mentoring junior engineers
- Preferred: Experience or certification in INCOSE standards
