About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Collaborate with Business Development, Engineering, Scheduling, Estimating, and Operations to align project needs and create competitive cost and technical strategies
  • Review RFP documents, confirm scope and design criteria, create equipment specifications and layouts, identify risks, recommend clarifications and exclusions, determine quantities, and identify negotiation points
  • Size or verify sizing of client-provided equipment and designs
  • Support development and timely delivery of RFP technical deliverables
  • Maintain and support the battery storage database, including manuals, specifications, datasheets, guidelines, and CAD drawings
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and savings strategies
  • Advocate for customer goals and priorities in pursuit planning
  • Verify technical elements of LNTP/EPC agreement negotiations
  • Support constructability and risk reviews during Owner contract negotiations
  • Identify Owner contract deliverables and ensure LNTP activities align with contract terms, milestones, scope, compliance, and budget
  • Assist with execution of PSAs, POs, and subcontractor agreements for project site equipment and materials
  • Manage technical elements of preconstruction deliverables and align them with Owner requirements and project objectives
  • Review designs from Owners, internal resources, independent engineers, and EORs for compliance with BESS OEM documentation and applicable codes and regulations
  • Support risk mitigation, efficiency, and profitability initiatives
  • Maintain communication with teams and stakeholders for construction handover readiness
  • Support formal handover from Preconstruction to Operations
  • Provide Operations with context on design decisions, vendor and subcontractor selections, technologies, and contract terms
  • Participate in project and risk reviews, capture lessons learned, and apply insights to future proposals
  • Collaborate with Business Development and Estimating on change order reviews from Award to FNTP

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, electrical engineering, architecture, construction management, business, or related field
  • Strong understanding of battery storage technology, including augmentation strategies, technical terms, chemistry, safety/clearance requirements, communication schemes, codes, auxiliary equipment, etc.
  • Solid knowledge of batteries, coupling strategies, PCSs, DCDC Converters, relevant codes and standards, and risk management principles
  • Experience in power plant EPC required
  • BESS EPC experience highly preferred
  • Ability to travel periodically for pre-bid site visits, customer meetings, and industry conferences
  • Must comply with applicable codes, standards, local regulations, and safety practices
