About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan and conduct user interviews, contextual enquiry, usability testing, and stakeholder workshops
- Synthesise research findings into actionable insights
- Define problem spaces, user journeys, information architecture, and interaction models from discovery through validated concepts
- Translate UX thinking into polished, production-quality, responsive interfaces
- Apply accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1 AA
- Operate and contribute to design systems in component-based environments
- Identify design-system gaps, propose extensions, and document decisions
- Present design rationale to clients and internal stakeholders
- Navigate compliance requirements, legacy constraints, and internal politics in complex client environments
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and project managers
- Understand implementation constraints and protect design integrity
- Own projects end-to-end from discovery through delivery on a complex, long-running financial-sector client engagement
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3–5 years of professional UX/UI design experience across digital products and services, ideally with some exposure to complex regulated environments (banking, insurance, health, enterprise)
- Genuine research capability; planned and run research independently
- Strong systems thinking
- Mastery of Figma including auto-layout, shared libraries, variables & tokenisation, component properties, and prototyping
- Portfolio demonstrating process, including messy research synthesis, annotated wireframes, and system documentation
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Self-direction and accountability, including managing workload, flagging risks early, and reporting for updates
- Experience with financial services or enterprise UX is nice to have
- Motion design or micro-interaction specification skills are nice to have
- Familiarity with AI-assisted UX workflows and tools is nice to have
- Basic front-end awareness is nice to have
- Experience contributing to design system governance is nice to have
