Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage all intradepartmental and cross-functional activities related to acquiring equipment, materials, products and services from requirements definition through delivery and payment
  • Deliver strategic sourcing solutions supporting the business
  • Develop new and existing global supply partners for critical technologies
  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies for sourcing suppliers in another region
  • Strategically plan and source materials, consumables, products, capital equipment and services
  • Manage supply risk and continuity through contingency planning
  • Lead critical sourcing projects cross-functionally with internal teams and supply partners
  • Deploy supply partners for capacity flexibility, cost competitiveness, continuity and risk mitigation
  • Assess supplier capabilities, processes, financial stability and internal controls
  • Negotiate supplier contracts and terms for pricing, quality and service
  • Develop and implement compliant purchase contracts
  • Apply lean principles and 5S throughout material acquisition and the organization
  • Monitor supplier performance for quality, delivery, cost and compliance
  • Address supplier quality and non-conformance issues using root-cause corrective action
  • Maintain and apply Silfex Quality Management System, Quality Procedures and Operating Procedures
  • Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally to align sourcing strategies with business objectives
  • Build supplier relationships and drive continuous improvement and value-added activities
  • Conduct market research and analysis on industry trends and regional opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards
  • Execute special projects and assigned duties
  • Develop, execute and track key performance metrics
  • Model safety policies, report unsafe conditions, use required PPE, and maintain workplace cleanliness and 5S

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or Engineering
  • At least 6 years’ experience in procurement and/or supplier management
  • Minimum 4 years of sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude pertaining to machining capital equipment used to produce precision parts with tight tolerances
  • Global sourcing experience required
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills leading cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and ERP systems
  • Ability to partner and work cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance and Product Support
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as necessary (<20%)
  • Ability to stand, use hands, reach, walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk or hear as required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds regularly
  • Desired: MBA or Master’s Degree in Engineering
  • Desired: experience with lean manufacturing principles, copy-exact parts, advanced materials, and integrated logistics streams
