About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare basic to moderately complex credit analyses on commercial loans for new, renewal, and extension loans
- Perform initial screening and underwriting of new lending opportunities
- Prepare memoranda and facilitate underwriting of new transactions and renewals
- Prepare cash flow models for credit decisions
- Analyze financial statements and related materials; summarize and present creditworthiness findings
- Analyze income growth, margins, trends, management quality, market share, industry risk, and collateral appraisals
- Support loan officers and managers through financial statement spreading and analysis
- Submit credit approval documents and write-ups for decision-making
- Monitor assigned portfolios for asset quality and customer service standards
- Review past dues, exceptions, and maturing loan reports
- Monitor compliance with loan agreements and covenants; spread required financial statements
- Report past dues, collect payments and renewal materials with loan officers
- Recommend actions for monitored accounts and report deteriorating credit situations
- Participate in deal discussion meetings with lending personnel, market managers, and credit officers
- Accompany lenders on customer and prospect calls when necessary
- Work with appraisal services, loan administration, and third-party attorneys
- Perform in-house collateral appraisals and inspections in some markets
- Ensure construction loan disbursements comply with bank policy and maintain monitoring and records
- Develop understanding of lending facilities, companies, and industries under supervision
- Ensure adherence to credit policy, guidelines, regulatory requirements, and applicable laws
- Complete required compliance training
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS/BA Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- 2–5 years prior applicable experience including credit analyst, commercial lender, or portfolio manager
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and/or legal documents
- Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence, and procedures manuals
- Ability to respond in writing to customer complaints, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with financial spreading software
- Familiarity with bank operating systems such as Loan Vantage, Synapsis, or Synergy, or equivalent
- Self-starter; ability to work independently with appropriate supervision
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time
- Ability to operate a computer
