About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Monitor startup trends, news, founder sentiment, and internal insights to identify timely stories and points of view
  • Develop PR angles around company news, industry trends, proprietary data, partnerships, and founder stories
  • Build relationships with reporters, editors, publications, founders, VCs, lawyers, and other startup ecosystem voices
  • Draft pitches, press releases, talking points, contributed content, and executive thought leadership
  • Position SimpleClosure and its leadership as credible voices on startup shutdowns
  • Own the social calendar across LinkedIn, X, Instagram, and other relevant channels
  • Turn PR moments, founder stories, company news, partnerships, events, and executive viewpoints into social content
  • Work with design and external resources on visual and video content
  • Use video for interviews, events, executive commentary, and educational content
  • Track content performance and use learnings to improve future content
  • Develop briefs and talking points for panels, interviews, and fireside chats
  • Work with Community & Events to surface stories and insights from programming
  • Partner with Growth to create content for long-term discovery using AEO best practices
  • Create and edit deeper owned content and extend the life of PR stories and executive viewpoints
  • Report to the Head of Marketing and collaborate with leadership, GTM, designers, and external partners

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4+ years of experience in PR, communications, journalism, editorial, content, or a related role, ideally within tech, startups, or the founder ecosystem
  • Strong news judgment and editorial instincts
  • Curiosity about founders, investors, operators, and the broader startup world
  • Ability to identify patterns across conversations, news, company data, and industry trends and turn them into narratives
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills across media pitches, executive thought leadership, social posts, and longer-form content
  • Experience developing PR angles, pitches, or media narratives
  • Strong understanding of social media across different channels and formats
  • Experience managing a social or editorial calendar
  • Comfort interviewing people, developing briefs, and extracting insights from conversations
  • Analytical mindset and interest in understanding which stories, angles, and formats resonate
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with executives, Growth, Community, design, agencies, and contractors
  • Familiarity with AEO and expert-led content for organic discovery
  • Video editing experience is a plus
  • Experience with YouTube, newsletters, or other owned distribution channels is a plus
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • Must answer whether visa sponsorship is required now or in the future
