About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Head up the finance team while reporting to the Finance Director
  • Represent the finance function in internal meetings and discussions
  • Review and approve sales invoices and supplier purchase requests
  • Lead the month-end process, ensuring accuracy and timely completion
  • Oversee project financial management through the Budget Sheet system
  • Ensure revenue is accurately recognised and costs and media spend are accrued
  • Keep project financials up to date
  • Line manage, coach, and support two Finance Assistants
  • Maintain high professional standards and deliver excellent internal service
  • Plan and prioritise workload, ensuring clear and timely communication
  • Produce reports, budgets, and forecasts with variance analysis
  • Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency and financial processes
  • Own financial operations and reporting for allocated accounts
  • Monitor and analyse financial performance monthly and annually
  • Support teams by constructively challenging assumptions to help achieve financial targets
  • Set expectations, provide feedback, monitor workloads, and support direct reports’ professional growth
  • Lead internal meetings and training sessions
  • Contribute to recruitment, interviews, and onboarding
  • Support employee wellbeing and escalate concerns to the People Team
  • Champion equity, diversity, and inclusion within the team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Recently qualified - ACA, ACCA, CIMA
  • 3 - 4 years of relevant work experience in a finance or accounting role
  • Experience in media or service-based businesses
  • Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and core financial principles
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills with proven application in analysis and reporting
  • Confident learning and using new systems, with experience in finance applications
  • Experience improving or implementing financial processes, not just maintaining them
  • Organised, reliable, and detail-oriented with strong time management
  • Positive, proactive, and able to work independently to create structure
  • Previous experience managing or mentoring team members, with a desire to lead
  • Comfortable giving and receiving feedback at all levels
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience using AI to improve workflows and create process efficiencies
