About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and develop document ingestion, OCR, extraction, and interpretation services, including for contracts, forms, invoices, and scanned images.
  • Orchestrate asynchronous pipelines.
  • Integrate language models through AWS Bedrock.
  • Create microservices.
  • Build event-driven architectures with Kafka.
  • Integrate Amazon Textract and LLM models for structured data extraction, classification, and summarization.
  • Design prompt engineering, chunking, RAG, and guardrail strategies.
  • Implement observability, API versioning, and failure handling.
  • Consider inference costs and architectural decisions.
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to less experienced developers.
  • Work on Artificial Intelligence and document-processing automation projects.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • More than 6 years of experience in Backend development.
  • Strong proficiency in Java with Spring Boot and/or Python using FastAPI or Flask.
  • Experience with AWS environments in production.
  • Knowledge of ECS or EKS, S3, MSK, IAM, CloudWatch, Amazon Textract, and AWS Bedrock.
  • Experience with Kafka, including producers and consumers, partitioning, and at-least-once or exactly-once delivery strategies.
  • Experience integrating LLMs through AWS Bedrock.
  • Knowledge of Prompt Engineering, structured extraction using JSON Schema or Function Calling, and evaluating the quality of model-generated responses.
  • Experience with document processing and OCR.
  • Knowledge of image preprocessing, layout analysis, table extraction, and handling low-quality documents.
  • Experience building and consuming REST and/or gRPC APIs.
  • Experience with automated unit, integration, and contract testing.
  • Experience with CI/CD processes.
  • Experience building intelligent document-processing architectures.
  • Knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) strategies.
  • Experience creating guardrails for Generative AI applications.
  • Experience with observability, distributed tracing, and application monitoring.
  • Knowledge of idempotency, retries, Dead Letter Queues (DLQs), and inference cost optimization.
  • Experience providing technical mentorship and supporting the development of more junior professionals.
