About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Monitor daily cash and bank balances, investigate unusual movements, and escalate recommendations to the CFO
  • Build and maintain weekly cash flow forecasts and treasury reports
  • Manage payment runs, supporting documentation, CFO approvals, and wire transfers
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and corrections
  • Own the finance inbox and resolve or escalate vendor queries
  • Oversee AR/AP aging, collections, payables follow-up, and vendor invoice approvals
  • Manage payroll exceptions, sync U.S. payroll reports to QuickBooks, and lead intercompany reconciliations
  • Handle physical mail and check deposits from the New York post office box
  • Liaise with bank representatives and external tax accountants
  • Own the month-end close checklist and guide the Finance Clerk
  • Deliver P&L and balance sheet reporting with variance analysis and lead budget-versus-actual discussions
  • Reconcile banks and payment processors including Stripe and Braintree
  • Code and reconcile global payroll in QuickBooks
  • Reconcile event COGS and maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules
  • Review recognized revenue and ticket sales activity for discrepancies and trends
  • Maintain the monthly “hill to climb” tracking file
  • Manage expense reports and recurring GST/VAT/BAS filings
  • Coordinate the annual budget cycle and prepare review-ready materials for the CFO
  • Own commission calculations through CFO sign-off
  • Coordinate annual external audits and prepare schedules and workpapers
  • Partner with U.S. and U.K. external accountants on annual financial statements
  • Manage annual payroll reconciliations, 1099 processing, and year-end tax filings
  • Maintain finance policies and SOPs
  • Manage finance software renewals and evaluate alternative vendors and platforms

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Full ownership of the monthly close cycle
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required
  • CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus
  • Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Online
  • Advanced Excel skills, including complex models, lookups, pivot tables, and self-built tools
  • Deep fluency with Stripe, Braintree, Emburse, and Wise
  • Proven experience in multi-entity, multi-currency, global payroll environments
  • Experience with intercompany accounting and indirect tax
  • Experience with Questco, Multiplier, or similar PEO/EOR platforms is highly preferred
  • Active, hands-on use of AI tools such as Claude, Claude Code, Gemini, or similar
  • Track record of redesigning manual processes into scalable, automated processes with measurable results
  • Ability to translate financial information into clear insight for non-finance audiences and senior stakeholders
  • Self-directed mindset suited to a fast-paced, remote-first environment with minimal oversight
  • Ability to communicate asynchronously and work flexibly to meet critical financial deadlines
  • Must be based in the greater New York tri-state area
  • Must be available to commute into Manhattan at least twice per month
