About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own and mature Skip’s regulatory compliance, enterprise and operational risk, privacy, Consumer Data Right obligations and second-line credit-process assurance
  • Own the compliance obligations register, enterprise risk register, risk appetite statement, compliance monitoring plan, compliance calendar and policy suite
  • Own TMD and DDO review processes and reasonable-steps obligations across broker, aggregator, white-label and direct channels
  • Embed risk and compliance input into product development
  • Own internal dispute resolution under RG 271, AFCA obligations, hardship obligations and related reporting
  • Manage incident and breach registers, root-cause analysis, remediation and reportable-situations assessment under RG 78
  • Mature operational risk, outsourcing, third-party, business continuity and disaster recovery frameworks
  • Own AML/CTF, AUSTRAC reporting, Consumer Data Right, privacy compliance and eligible data-breach assessment
  • Own commercial contracts, contract register, template agreements and contracting playbook
  • Select and manage external counsel and legal budget
  • Track obligations under funding and partnership agreements
  • Own Risk Committee packs and risk sections of Board reporting
  • Support Risk Committee operations and track actions to completion
  • Act as point of contact for funder, rating agency and auditor due diligence
  • Design and deliver role-based compliance training
  • Automate policy checks, exception detection and breach detection with product and engineering teams
  • Report to the COO with a direct escalation line to the Board Risk Committee

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8+ years across risk, compliance or financial services regulation
  • Experience inside an Australian credit licensee
  • Personally owned a compliance and risk framework
  • Working knowledge of the NCCP Act and National Credit Code
  • Working knowledge of relevant ASIC regulatory guides
  • Working knowledge of the AML/CTF Act and Privacy Act as they apply to a credit provider
  • Experience working in a business under about 150 people
  • Experience identifying, assessing and monitoring operational risks and controls
  • Experience with risk registers, incidents, remediation and emerging risk
  • Ability to translate obligations into practical controls
  • Commercial judgment regarding material versus non-material risks
  • Collaborative, pragmatic working style
  • Excellent written communication and ability to write clear board papers
  • Australian working rights
  • A law degree and post-qualification experience in financial services, credit or securitisation is helpful, not required
  • Experience with warehouse facilities, servicing agreements or securitisation is helpful
  • Consumer Data Right or open banking experience is helpful
  • Broker channel or third-party distribution conduct risk experience is helpful
  • AML/CTF depth under the reformed obligations is helpful
  • Experience specifying software or working closely with engineers is helpful
