About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Architect, build, and optimize responsive runtime UI and in-game HUD features within Unreal Engine 5
  • Collaborate with technical designers, UI designers, artists, and engineering leads internally and with partner teams
  • Translate creative direction and feature requests into robust technical solutions
  • Build frameworks and data flows connecting gameplay logic to user interfaces
  • Support player-facing interfaces including interactive maps, HUD elements, options menus, and accessibility features
  • Investigate technical paths, resolve ambiguity, communicate proactively across disciplines, and deliver results
  • Contribute to an AAA co-development project in a highly anticipated universe

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience in game development, primarily focused on UI systems and user interfaces
  • Hands-on development experience in Unreal Engine 5 with a strong practical understanding of its UI frameworks
  • Hands-on experience with Slate, UMG, MVVM / View Models, and CommonUI
  • Strong C++ programming, memory management, data structures, and object-oriented design skills
  • Proven experience applying C++ concepts within Unreal Engine’s framework, architecture, and macro ecosystem
  • Ability to operate autonomously and solve open-ended technical problems
  • Strong teamwork and adaptability in a co-development environment
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and reside within Canada
  • Candidates must reside in Canada or be willing to relocate
  • Experience shipping a game built in Unreal Engine with a focus on UI/UX systems (nice-to-have)
  • Familiarity with console UI development, controller navigation, layout compliance, and platform performance (nice-to-have)
  • Experience with Unreal’s Enhanced Input system and complex multi-device input mappings (nice-to-have)
  • Experience with Unreal Insights and CPU/GPU trace tools for UI performance profiling (nice-to-have)
