About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Architect, build, and optimize responsive runtime UI and in-game HUD features within Unreal Engine 5
- Collaborate with technical designers, UI designers, artists, engineering leads, and partner teams
- Translate creative direction and feature requests into robust technical solutions
- Build frameworks and data flows connecting gameplay logic to user interfaces
- Support player-facing interfaces including interactive maps, HUD elements, options menus, and accessibility features
- Investigate high-level problems and open-ended feature requests
- Communicate proactively across disciplines to resolve ambiguity and deliver results
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of software engineering experience in game development, primarily focused on UI systems and user interfaces
- Hands-on development experience in Unreal Engine 5 with strong practical understanding of its UI frameworks
- Hands-on experience with Slate, UMG, MVVM / View Models, and CommonUI
- Strong C++ programming, memory management, data structures, and object-oriented design skills
- Experience applying C++ concepts within Unreal Engine’s framework, architecture, and macro ecosystem
- Comfort working autonomously on open-ended problems
- Strong teamwork and collaborative communication skills across artists, designers, and engineers
- Legally eligible to work in Canada and residing within Canada
- Nice-to-have: experience shipping Unreal titles with UI/UX focus
- Nice-to-have: console and compliance experience
- Nice-to-have: Unreal Enhanced Input experience
- Nice-to-have: UI profiling and performance experience using Unreal Insights or CPU/GPU trace tools
