About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define a multi-year vision for Smalls' digital product and underlying platform, and translate it into a team roadmap
- Decide investment priorities, build choices, team resourcing, and technology-stack changes
- Connect product decisions to the company's long-term vision and financial goals
- Own the customer-facing digital experience, including onsite experience, purchase and checkout flows, account and subscription experience, and retention-oriented product surfaces
- Guide UX, merchandising, and onsite-flow decisions to reflect the brand
- Own product and experience metrics tied to revenue, including conversion, AOV, LTV, and retention
- Partner with Marketing on acquisition, retention, and reactivation
- Establish technical direction and build a high-quality, fast-shipping engineering organization
- Make build-vs-buy and platform decisions and maintain the technology stack
- Attract, develop, and motivate a cross-functional product and engineering organization
- Serve on the leadership team and report to the SVP, Growth & Data
- Align teams around strategy, roadmap rationale, and business outcomes
Requirements
What you’ll need- 12+ years (or equivalent) across product and technology leadership
- Experience setting strategy, leading teams, and growing important business metrics
- Experience scaling consumer commerce across DTC subscription and traditional ecommerce
- Understanding of subscription-first businesses, one-time purchase, and subscribe-and-save models
- Strong knowledge of the modern DTC stack, including Shopify
- Technical depth to set engineering direction and earn engineers' trust
- Experience operating at the product–marketing seam across growth, brand, and product
- Exceptional people leadership, talent attraction, resource management, and team-building ability
- Ability to communicate roadmap rationale clearly and discuss architecture with engineers and executives
- Customer-centered strategy grounded in data, testing, and research
- Commercial orientation and accountability for business outcomes
- Genuine interest in cats and the cat community
