About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build and maintain custom Magento 2 modules for checkout, payments, promotions and vouchers, with tests
Integrate Magento with payment providers and internal services through REST APIs and message queues
Identify and fix performance issues in caching, indexing, queues and checkout
Help run load tests before peak trading periods
Investigate production issues using logs, metrics and traces, and resolve them
Review code and contribute to technical design and architecture decisions
Improve the CI/CD pipeline
Use AI tools to write, refactor, review and test code, checking outputs before deployment

Requirements

What you’ll need

Five or more years building and running Magento 2 in production; Magento Open Source or Adobe Commerce experience accepted
Solid knowledge of Magento internals: dependency injection, plugins, observers, service contracts, module system and message queues
Modern PHP 8.x
Good object-oriented design
PHPUnit testing experience
Performance experience on a busy store, including full-page cache, Redis, indexing and MySQL query tuning
Understanding of logging, metrics and tracing on a high-traffic store
Frontend experience with Magento themes, Knockout.js, RequireJS and Tailwind CSS
Daily use of Docker, Git and CI/CD
Day-to-day use of agentic development tools such as Claude Code or similar
Experience using AI across scaffolding, code generation, refactoring, testing, code review, debugging and documentation
Ability to check, test and take ownership of AI-generated code
Good prompting and context management on a real codebase
Ability to explain trade-offs to engineers, product and QA
Kubernetes experience helps, but can be learned after joining
MCP-based integrations experience is a plus
Payment gateway integrations at scale are a plus
Experience preparing stores for seasonal peaks is a plus
Headless or composable commerce experience is a plus
Static analysis and mutation testing experience is a plus
