About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage all aspects of the project lifecycle for various construction initiatives within the Canadian portfolio
  • Assist in negotiating and issuing prime contracts, subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Perform project contract administration in accordance with Company policies and procedures
  • Monitor project costs through change order and contract adjustment procedures
  • Assist in developing recovery strategies when project schedules or budgets are at risk
  • Review and update schedules, cost forecasts and cash flow requirements with the Construction Team biweekly and with the CIO monthly or as scheduled
  • Prepare and process general contractor progress draws, subcontractor applications for payment, and consultant and supplier invoices
  • Collaborate with Accounting on coding, progress-draw payments, and recoverable costs
  • Coordinate drawing coordination, scheduling, costs, and project execution
  • Establish working relationships with general contractors, architects, engineers, and other construction vendors
  • Resolve project disputes
  • Complete project closeout documentation and follow up on deficiencies
  • Direct construction administrative assistant activities
  • Coordinate with building officials and regulatory agencies
  • Travel regularly to construction and project sites across the Canadian portfolio to oversee progress, quality, and compliance while performing core administrative duties remotely

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management required
  • A minimum five years’ direct experience required
  • Experience working for companies with multi-site locations a MUST; Self-Storage experience a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Thorough understanding of construction and technology methods
  • Ability to effectively multi-task while analyzing and solving problems
  • Thorough understanding of construction and technology methods and the application of building codes
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote/home-office environment while managing frequent travel to project sites across Canada
  • Valid driver's license and passport required
