About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Undertake complex design modelling and production tasks
- Prepare tender and construction documents
- Provide technical support services to the functional group and clients
- Perform 3D modelling, detailing and quality audits on drawings/models
- Implement BIM and standardise project drawings
- Develop Autodesk templates, libraries, tools and processes
- Participate in technical discussions and project delivery meetings
- Mentor, train and support junior staff
- Conduct conceptual and detailed design and drafting
- Develop practical and economical project solutions
- Maintain CAD, modelling and engineering expertise
- Undertake supervisory roles and lead projects
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project work
- Support functional-group utilisation, management and profitability
- Ensure high-quality drawings and documentation
- Maintain client satisfaction and comply with SMEC management, quality and OHS procedures
- Assist Project Managers with site queries and reporting solutions
- Perform parametric modelling, model federation and rendering development
- Perform automation and coding
- Ensure accurate model and drawing outputs across regions
- Grow BIM capability within the team
- Deliver projects according to client Terms of Reference and BIM Execution Plans
Requirements
What you’ll need- Professional Registration in Draughting (Autodesk Certified) in Civil Engineering Projects (Bulk Water & Sewer)
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience
- Minimum of 5 years in a similar position
- Experience in relevant Water Infrastructure projects
- Proficiency in Revit, C3D, QGIS and other discipline-associated software
- Proficiency in ACC/BIM360 and Projectwise
- Modelling and detailing to LOD 400–500
- Experience working on major infrastructure/building projects
- Understanding of ISO 19650
- Ability to work independently and self-motivated
- Ability to travel and remain outside South Africa for short periods
- Ability to liaise with client representatives and consultants from other disciplines
