About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build and operate the cloud platform supporting SMG's products
  • Embed with product squads from discovery to go-live and build production infrastructure
  • Migrate remaining AWS workloads into the Azure landing zone
  • Own and evolve the Azure landing zone and cloud foundations
  • Operate observability and SRE tooling for metrics, tracing and logging
  • Integrate Datadog observability with clear SLO dashboards into products
  • Contribute to the platform roadmap and develop shared platform capabilities
  • Build Terraform modules and pipelines for safe provisioning and deployment
  • Embed security, compliance, cost optimisation, tagging and governance practices
  • Design and operate private networking and workload identity
  • Mentor engineering teams on SRE practices and developer self-service
  • Author runbooks, incident playbooks and onboarding guides
  • Help shape the future dedicated Platform squad

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Production cloud infrastructure experience for a SaaS product
  • Hands-on Azure landing zone experience: management groups, hub-spoke networking, private endpoints and private DNS, Azure Policy, Entra ID/RBAC
  • Hands-on AWS experience sufficient to operate existing workloads and migrate workloads off it
  • IaC expertise; Terraform strongly preferred; Bicep/ARM experience is a plus
  • Pipeline authoring in a mainstream CI tool; Azure DevOps and Bitbucket used
  • Observability tooling experience with metrics, tracing and logging stacks, translating them into SLIs/SLOs, specifically using Datadog
  • Incident management experience, running on-call and leading blameless postmortems
  • Strong scripting and automation skills; proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language
  • Strong documentation skills
  • AWS and/or Azure certifications, especially AZ-305 or AZ-700, desirable
  • Azure Landing Zones or Cloud Adoption Framework knowledge desirable
  • Container platform experience such as ACA or AKS desirable
  • Hands-on cloud migration experience desirable
