About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead Snap's Production Security team and own the security of infrastructure running Snapchat
  • Set and drive multi-year technical strategy for production infrastructure security across network perimeter, cloud hardening, workload identity, and CI/CD
  • Translate production risk into a prioritized roadmap and balance security outcomes, productivity, and system health
  • Oversee development and operation of perimeter, cloud configuration enforcement, service identity, secrets management, and developer-facing security platforms
  • Own service reliability, on-call health, customer support, and incident response for production security services
  • Drive vulnerability and misconfiguration identification, triage, remediation, and ownership across cloud environments and backend systems
  • Oversee platform, backend-service, and business-application security reviews, exception handling, and formal risk acceptance
  • Partner with Infrastructure, Developer Productivity, Product Engineering, Detection and Response, and Offensive Security teams
  • Guide secure adoption of LLMs, AI tooling, and agentic workloads, focusing on identity, access boundaries, and data protection
  • Participate in incident response, red team engagements, quarterly planning, and annual planning
  • Recruit, develop, and manage high-caliber security engineers while building security culture across Snap

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent years of experience in a related technical field
  • 8+ years of post-bachelor's industry experience; or a Master's degree in a technical field plus 7+ years of post-grad security experience; or a PhD in a related technical field plus 4+ years of post-grad security experience
  • 1+ year of experience as an Engineering Manager
  • Proven experience in production and infrastructure security, including cloud security architecture, network perimeter and zero-trust design, workload identity and secrets management, container and Kubernetes security, or CI/CD and software supply chain security
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes, containers, service mesh technologies such as Istio or Envoy, networking, or Linux internals
  • Hands-on experience deploying and securing services in multi-cloud environments, particularly AWS and Google Cloud Platform
  • Working knowledge of OpenID Connect, OAuth, mTLS, and identity federation
  • Development skills in Go, Python, and/or Java
  • Ability to apply defense in depth and zero-trust principles to large, heterogeneous production environments
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to influence senior engineering leaders without direct authority
  • Preferred: experience leading platform services at scale, driving company-wide security-control adoption, and familiarity with cloud security posture management platforms and native AWS/GCP security services
