About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Partner with Product, Configuration, People Analytics, Engineering, IT, and other stakeholders to translate business challenges into scalable, user-centric solutions
Own end-to-end technical delivery for integration and automation solutions from discovery and architecture through development, testing, deployment, and optimization
Evaluate and recommend solutions across Workday and the broader enterprise technology ecosystem
Architect and develop complex integrations using Workday Studio, Orchestrate, EIBs, Connectors, RaaS, Workday Web Services, and REST APIs
Design and build custom applications, APIs, and automation solutions using Workday Extend and Java, JavaScript, Python, XML, XSLT, SOAP, and REST
Serve as a subject matter expert on Workday APIs, authentication, security, business process dependencies, error handling, and API best practices
Partner with engineering and analytics teams on downstream data models, table structures, joins, and transformation logic
Lead technical assessments to simplify architecture, reduce technical debt, optimize API consumption, and improve reliability and performance
Design and implement monitoring, logging, error handling, and alerting
Develop and execute unit, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing strategies
Troubleshoot complex issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement durable fixes
Drive technical project execution by managing dependencies, coordinating stakeholders, communicating risks and tradeoffs, and maintaining delivery accountability
Apply emerging technologies including AI-assisted development, agentic workflows, MCP, and API-driven architectures
Maintain technical documentation, design specifications, and knowledge-sharing practices

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience
5+ years of demonstrated Workday integration development experience using Workday’s integration tools
Deep expertise in Workday integration technologies, reporting, business processes, security frameworks, and data architecture
Advanced proficiency with Workday SOAP and REST APIs
Strong software engineering fundamentals, including API design, data structures, system architecture, integration patterns, and secure development practices
Experience designing downstream data models and transformation logic
Proficiency with Workday Studio, Orchestrate, EIBs, Connectors, RaaS, Workday Extend, Workday Web Services, REST APIs, Java, JavaScript, Python, XML, XSLT, SOAP, and REST
Ability to independently lead cross-functional initiatives and influence partners at all levels
Experience working in Agile development environments and using project management tools such as Jira
Preferred: 7+ years extensive experience with Core HCM, Comp, Recruiting, Benefits, US Payroll, Absence Management & Time Tracking
Preferred: 2+ years experience in Workday Extend development
Preferred: Workday Pro certifications in Integration Administration/Workday Studio
Preferred: Strong experience using XSLT, WSDL, SOAP, REST, and WS-* standards
