About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, execute, and lead offensive security and privacy engagements, including red, purple, and orange team exercises
  • Assess corporate environments, cloud projects/accounts, internal applications, and mobile client applications
  • Analyze real-world threat actors, tools, tactics, and procedures in collaboration with the threat intelligence team
  • Develop exhaustive killchains to seed and prioritize the engagement roadmap
  • Deliver post-engagement reports identifying vulnerabilities, security strengths and weaknesses, detection coverage, and actionable risk mitigation recommendations
  • Implement and manage offensive security engagement infrastructure and tooling
  • Develop custom implants, payloads, and exploits to test and evaluate defenses
  • Collaborate with security and privacy teams to share engagement insights and inform strategic roadmaps
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and consultant in security reviews, vulnerability reproduction, and high-stakes incident response
  • Research novel topics relevant to Snap’s technology stack and integrate lessons learned into future exercises

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proven experience leading offensive security engagements, coordinating multiple security engineers, and managing and executing assessments
  • Expert knowledge in four or more of: operating system internals, networking, application development, mobile client development, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), and payload/implant/exploit development
  • Coding proficiency in one or more modern languages, including Java, Python, or Go
  • Adept at threat modeling and establishing killchains
  • Proficiency in Bash and PowerShell scripting
  • Ability to learn and work in new, unique, and complex technical environments
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent years of experience in a related technical field
  • 6+ years of post-Bachelor’s security-related experience; or Master’s degree in a technical field plus 5+ years of post-graduate security-related experience; or PhD in a relevant technical field plus 2+ years of post-graduate security-related experience
  • Evidence of personal security research, public bug bounty reports, CTF participation, and/or personally developed security tools is accepted
  • Familiarity with ATT&CK frameworks
  • Experience leading or participating in incident response, digital forensics, detection engineering, and threat hunting
  • Ability to work effectively with developers, IT, and executive leadership
  • Must work in an office 4+ days per week under Snap’s “default together” policy
