About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage sourcing and procurement activities for imported goods across Motion product offerings
- Conduct RFx events, supplier evaluations, benchmarking analyses, and total cost of ownership assessments
- Identify and implement cost reduction, supplier consolidation, and process improvement opportunities
- Develop category strategies aligned with enterprise operational and financial objectives
- Coordinate the day-to-day efforts of Motion’s in-country representatives
- Oversee third-party service providers involved in supplier onboarding, development, audits, and inspections
- Lead supplier corrective action processes
- Build supplier relationships while maintaining competitive tension and commercial accountability
- Partner with internal business units to translate operational requirements into sourcing strategies
- Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Compliance, Quality, Engineering, and other teams
- Drive supplier performance management through KPIs, scorecards, business reviews, and corrective action plans
- Support movement, storage, and inventory control of materials, finished goods, tools, and packaging materials
- Analyze supplier supply chain operations and processes to identify risks and negotiation opportunities
- Support Quality, Engineering, and Sales organizations in meeting technical and quality criteria
- Analyze spending data, supplier performance metrics, and market trends
- Support transformation initiatives, process standardization, and continuous improvement
- Maintain procurement documentation and sourcing records
- Ensure adherence to SOX controls, procurement governance standards, and company policies
- Review supplier agreements for cost savings, commercial improvements, risks, and service enhancements
- Execute supplier renegotiation strategies covering pricing, service levels, payment terms, and contractual protections
- Draft, coordinate, and execute supplier agreements with Legal, Finance, Risk, and business stakeholders
- Ensure supplier contracts align with procurement policies, compliance requirements, and enterprise risk standards
- Support contract templates, negotiation playbooks, and sourcing governance processes
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Procurement, or related field and five (5) to seven (7) years of related experience or an equivalent combination
- Fluency in Mandarin is required
- At least five (5) years of expat experience in mainland China required
- Seven (7) or more years of procurement, sourcing, contract management, or strategic purchasing experience within a corporate environment required
- Demonstrated ability in commercial negotiation, strategic sourcing, contract management, supplier relationship management, financial and spend analysis, risk mitigation, stakeholder collaboration and influence, process improvement, executive communication, and project management
- Demonstrated experience managing supplier contract reviews, renewals, and renegotiations
- Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate contract risks
- Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP/procurement systems
- Ability to drive supplier performance improvements
- Strong stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to deliver solutions that improve stakeholder satisfaction
- High degree of cross-functional collaboration
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
