About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage the administration and ongoing effectiveness of all health and welfare benefit programs
  • Manage wellbeing program strategy, administration, vendor management, and continuous improvement
  • Integrate wellbeing strategies with health management, preventive care, disease management, and benefits initiatives
  • Assist in leading annual benefit planning, renewals, and open enrollment activities
  • Partner with brokers, consultants, carriers, and third-party administrators to evaluate plan performance, service levels, and cost management opportunities
  • Analyze claims, utilization, employee feedback, and market trends to enhance employee experience and optimize benefit investments
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, and Section 125 requirements
  • Coordinate regulatory filings, notices, audits, and documentation
  • Manage vendor relationships and service delivery accountability
  • Develop employee communications, educational materials, and benefits resources
  • Partner with HRIS, Payroll, and Benefits Operations teams on eligibility, enrollment, deductions, and reporting
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting by monitoring benefit costs and financial performance
  • Develop metrics, dashboards, and presentations for HR leadership
  • Resolve complex employee benefit issues and act as an escalation point
  • Implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and employee experience
  • Oversee participant benefit appeals, including review, investigation, plan interpretation, Committee materials, and appeal determinations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
  • Five (5) or more years of progressive benefits experience, with significant responsibility for health and welfare programs
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefits regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience managing vendor, carrier, consultant, and third-party administrator relationships
  • Strong analytical, financial, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Experience supporting open enrollment and benefits communication strategies
  • Proficiency with HRIS and benefits administration platforms
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high attention to detail
  • Experience with self-funded and fully-insured health plans
  • Experience supporting a multi-state employee population
  • Knowledge of leave administration, wellbeing initiatives, and population health strategies
  • Experience with benefits analytics and data-driven decision-making
